My name is Helen

I am an independent Speech and Language Therapist with over 15 years of clinical experience

I am an adult Speech and Language Therapist. I specialise in supporting communication difficulties within neurological conditions such as:

Stroke
Head injury
Dementia (including rare dementias)
Progressive Neurological conditions (Parkinson's, MS. PSP, MND and others)
Brain tumours

I cover Plymouth and South Devon (and occasionally East Cornwall)

I offer home visits or remote sessions online

I offer:

Assessment of speech, language and communication difficulties
Speech and language therapy to help with everyday communication
Support using apps and technology to help communication
Advice and training for family, friends and carers
Support and advice for workplaces

Please note: I do not offer swallowing assessments

About me

I am a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with clinical experience in the NHS (acute and community) and privately

I have previously worked at Marjon University and continue to liaise regularly with them

I work closely with local charities - I have set up singing groups and cafes to support people with communication difficulties (alongside charities such as Plymouth MusicZone)

I believe therapy should be led by you and focus on what is important to you

We will work together to set goals that help with everyday communication and are unique to each individual

I have additional training in counselling skills, including Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

Supervision

I am experienced in providing clinical supervision and have completed Intandem supervision training. I offer supervision sessions online or in person

Regularly attend clinical supervision for myself, conferences and CEN as per CPD guidelines
